Playing Catch Up With Shana

by Shana Roberts

Hi, how's everyone doing? Did ya'll have a good summer... hope so. Well, it's time to play catch-up with Shana again. Not much to talk about really. Just a few notes about the August picnic and this past weekends meeting... maybe a little on upcoming events.

We had our annual "boys" picnic on August 28th. In attendance was Martha and Leslie, Danielle, Janet E, Bonnie and Susie, Tiffany Hines, Yvonne and Linda, Leslie, Rosemary, Michaeline Lydia, me, and of course, our hosts, Glenn and Doneene. Again, a big round of applause for our hosts and all the work they go to for the event, along with the new look to the front of their house. Many of us stayed around till 8 or so, consuming mass quantities of hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. A great time was had by all, and thank you to those traveling great distances to make the picnic a success.

Photograph of Shana Roberts At our kickoff meeting of the fall season, we had 15 people in attendance: Chris and Pattie, Sabrina, Mary Alice, Bobbie, Erica and Janet, Bonnie and Susie, Michaeline, and Rachael Ann. Making their appearance for the first time was Rachael Ann, who hails from Atlanta, and Michaeline, although she had been to both picnics in the bubba mode (thanks RA).

It was Mary Alice's 327th meeting : - ). The theme for the night was back to school, 50's style. Chris and Pattie get the prize for the night, having gone to the most trouble and looked great. Go on girls!

Also wearing appropriate styles were me n Linda wearing poodle skirts, and Mary Alice wore a period shift.

The guest of honor was Dr. Kate Thomas, someone we all look forward to every September (for those of you who miss her at Villa Julie!). She gave a slightly different talk on how "they" think hormones may play a part in the development of our brain during very specific stages of fetal development.
