Rosemary & Tina At The 50s/60s Dinner Dance

by Rosemary McQueen

Photograph of Rosemary McQueen On Saturday, November 15, 2003 after having a great time at the September Fling, Rosemary and Tina decided to return for the 50/60's Dinner Dance. I have lived in New Jersey most of my life, but had never visited Edison or that part of the State before. As a result I got lost trying to find the Hilton Garden Inn for the September Fling then I got lost again trying to find the Clarion Hotel and Towers in Edison. This is because the Expressways are complicated and the turn off signs are small and hard to read. I had no problem finding the Hilton Garden Inn this time, but I wasn't looking for that. I was dressed en femme and had to ask for directions at a few places. Tina called me on her Cell Phone and I told her that I wasn't sure where I was so she told me that she would save a seat for me.

I found my way there, signed in with Debbie, then proceeded to the changing room on the 5th floor of the hotel. I put on my full taffeta skirt and silky blouse with full sleeves. Under the skirt I wore a very pretty crinoline petticoat that was all white with lace, bands of white satin ribbon and a pink satin bow. I bought this outfit back in the 1960's and I was concerned that the elastic on the petticoat wouldn't be strong enough. I then proceeded to the Lobby and the hall that led to the Dining Room. Something always happens to Rosemary and guess what happened this time? Yes my petticoat slipped down to my ankles and I had no choice but to step out of it. I had lost my bouffant look and was embarrassed as I stepped out of it in front of other guests.
