Rosemary's Faux Pas

by Rosemary McQueen

Photograph of Rosemary McQueen On the Dignity Cruise last February/March, I took three bus tours. I can't remember whether it was on St. Martin or St. Thomas, but on this tour I was wearing blue jeans and my JERSEY GIRL T-shirt with one of my blond wigs.

On this bus I began to converse with an older woman like myself and we engaged in "Girl Talk". I told her about my two daughters and my three grandsons.

Before we left the bus at the end of the tour, this lady told me that I was a wonderful grandmother. I was stunned! I had never thought of myself as a grandmother before.

I then stopped for a Cerveza and I looked in some shops. Suddenly, I needed to visit a restroom so forgetting that I was Rosemary, I walked in the men's room and the men in there began to stare at me.

When I realized what a mistake I had made, I jumped into a stall because I had to go.

I reappeared and walked through the men who were entering or departing smiling all the way.

Were those guys surprised!
